New Canon lenses announced by Canon.
On February 7th, 2012, Canon has announced 3 new lenses. One of which is the replacement for the older Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L, the Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II. And 2 of the world’s first wide angel Image Stabilized lens, the Canon EF 24mm f/2.8 IS USM, and the Canon EF 28mm f/2.8 IS USM. The new IS prime lenses by canon gives photographers and enthusiasts like me more versatility, by having more capability to have longer exposure images hand held.
Brief previews.
Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II
This new replacement lens for the Canon EF 24-70 f/2.8L II. It features a completely new optical design, that includes two Ultra-low Dispersion (UD) and one Super UD aspheric elements to minimise chromatic aberration and colour blurring, the lens delivers consistently sharp, high-contrast images. Each lens element also features Canon’s optimised Super Spectra coatings to reduce ghosting and flare and ensure excellent colour balance. Additionally, a fluorine coating minimises the amount of dust, dirt and fingerprints that adhere to the front and rear of the lens, helping to maintain superior image quality.
The lens itself is shorter than the first version. 10mm to be exact. It’s also lighter. And of-course the signature design of almost all Canon L lens is that it’s weather sealed and dust proof*. Enabling you to shoot in the most harsh conditions possible*.

Personal statement.
I would personally buy the Canon EF 28mm f/2.8 IS USM, since i’m going to be using a crop sensor body. That would result in a close to 50mm equivalent. Thou a 50 1.4 would be cheaper and faster. It’s going to give me an actual focal length of 80mm. It would be good for portraits, but it’s going to be extremely tight indoors. Especially in small rooms and such. So a 30mm would be a smarter choice.
* When used with a Canon approved EOS weather sealed body

I wish I have the money to buy this pretty camera. I love taking pictures.
Me too.. I would but a high quality one when I start working.. I really love to do a blog about my pictures.. 🙂
wow.. i think i want a canon now.. hahahaha
You should get a Canon branded DSLR. Well.. My whole gear is composed of Canon products. With some 3rd party gear.
Planning to change my camera this year, and Canon is on the top of my lists.
Are you going to be going Full-Frame? Or sticking with the crop sensor bodies?
photo enthusiasts will surely benefit from the information provided here about this product… by the way, I think it’s only the lens of the camera not the camera itself but I could be wrong…
Bihira nakikita kong slr ang gamit ay canon, well I still don’t know dahil I don’t have one
Wow, this is my next project! I need to save more money…
wow nice photos of the camera that take nice photos!!haha. i used canon but point and shoot lang.
My initial plan was to get a 24-70 Lens. Instead, I got a 24-105 and I never regret that choice.
If only they have IS for the 24-70, I might change my mind and get that 😀
very informative! thumbs up!
I would want it even the lowest XLR type camera of this brand! Incredible!
